Stemina was founded in late 2006 and opened its facility in the UW Research Park in November 2007 to commercialize hES cell technology based on Dr. Cezar's work at the University of Wisconsin. Human embryonic stem cells offer a unique and never before available opportunity to study the pathways impacted by exposure to toxic compounds or the manifestations of devastating disease. Stemina combines hES cell technology and mass spectrometry to discover and validate small molecules that are biomarkers of toxicity. Our technological capabilities include a state-of-the-art Agilent LC/QTOF-MS system and a strong scientific team. Stemina provides compound screening and diagnostic development for pharmaceutical, biotechnology industries, and academia under contract services or joint discovery agreements using our proprietary metabolomics platform.
