BellBrook Labs is dedicated to providing the pharmaceutical industry with enabling screening tools to accelerate the discovery of more effective therapies. As a small, R&D-driven company, we identify areas where there is a strong need but a significant technical hurdle, and then we develop a solution. BellBrook Labs has two technology platforms, Transcreener and iuvo. Transcreener® universal biochemical assays enable screening of more biologically relevant targets, both well characterized and emerging, faster and more efficiently. iuvo Microconduit Arrays empower development of complex cellular assays that better emulate in vivo function.
Using its proprietary microfluidic system, Functional Biosciences, Inc. provides some of the lowest costs for DNA sequencing in the industry without compromising the quality of the results. Functional Biosciences, Inc. currently offers its services to both academic and industrial researchers. Services provided include DNA sequencing, DNA purification, PCR, primer walking, shotgun cloning and sequencing, resequencing and SNP analysis.

GWC Technologies develops, manufactures and markets scientific instruments for research in proteomics, diagnostics and biosensor development. Two product lines use technology licensed from WARF: 1. SpotReady array substrates (US Patent 7,332,329) enable rapid, efficient analysis of protein function using the company's SPRimager®II array platform; and 2. The SPR100 system (US Patent 6,330,062) enables materials scientists to monitor thin films at Ångstrøm resolution. Funded primarily by product revenues, with additional funding from debt, grants and angel investors, the company now seeks equity financing to expand sales and to develop next generation products based on its newest WARF license.

Helix Diagnostics is a leader in providing bioanalytical testing services for emerging oligonucleotide therapeutics drug developers. With over a dozen clients since mid-2006, Helix supports RNAi, antisense, and microRNA clinical development by accurately identifying, quantifying, and detecting both drug agent and metabolites in support of toxicology studies and clinical trials. No other assay can perform all three tasks at once, providing time and cost savings for Helix clients. Helix holds exclusive licenses to use of direct DNA/RNA hybridization followed by capillary electrophoresis, a platform that has additional potential for development in all aspects of molecular diagnostics. Helix operates three laboratories at University Research Park, including a GLP suite.

LifeGen Technologies utilizes DNA microarrays to identify changes in gene expression that are associated with the aging process and how these changes are opposed by caloric restriction (CR). The same process is being used by LifeGen scientists to screen for compounds that have the ability to mimic the transcriptional activity of CR. This research will permit LifeGen to partner with companies to develop pharmaceutical and nutraceutical compounds to retard aging. LifeGen has also constructed an extensive, proprietary gene expression database on aging, which provides vital information to life sciences companies.
